The transition to a sustainable and resilient energy system calls for innovative technologies to improve the performance and reliability of ocean energy. The COIN project (Control Oriented Innovations for Future Ocean Energy Farms) is a 48-month initiative that addresses key techno-economic challenges of wave energy through advanced control-oriented solutions. COIN develops an innovative connector for subsea infrastructure, AI-based real-time wave prediction, and digital-twin-based health monitoring frameworks. Together, these innovations enable smarter design, operation, and maintenance of ocean energy devices, contributing to more efficient, cost-effective, and competitive marine renewable energy systems.
